The Government of Gujarat has launched an innovative and ambitious project to support sports development that merges education and athletics under the public private partnership (PPP) model. For which the Sports Authority of Gujarat (SAG) and the Tapovan Trust have signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU). Under the programme, proficient trainers and coaches cultivate talented players through scientific training. In collaboration with the schools, the government covers the expenses in this area. The schools engaged in this scheme are referred to as District Level Sports Schools (DLSS). Tapovan Sports School (DLSS) was formed in 2017 and received approval from the Gujarat Government as part of Tapovan Sanskar Kendra’s mission to promote sports culture, excellence in sports, and the production of great athletes for the nation. The Tapovan Sports School is aiming towards constructing a sports complex, a sports hostel, as well as a multipurpose hall, synthetic track, a swimming pool, areas for various indoor games, and outdoor game facilities. For this particular use, open land is available.
The purpose of DLSS is to empower athletes from the entire state of Gujarat the opportunity to thrive in sports, cultivate an enthusiasm for the sport, and prepare them for participation at the national and international levels.
